Power of Women: Power for Change in Karnali

Mrs Sarkini Nepali from Tallo Lorpa, Dillichaur,Jumla in December 2013, first training in her  life

Action Works Nepal (AWON) has been facilitating the training on Gender, Social Inclusion and Women Empowerment since December 2013 for a year for project entitled `Women Empowerment and Livelihood Empowerment Project' in Jumla as a Strategic Partner. This project is implemented by two local partners; BEE group and Four S.
In the village, the training has planned for the Gender Facilitators who are engaged with group in the community. There are three sets of training 3-3-3 days has already conducted by Action Works Nepal under the leadership of Ms. Radha Paudel, Founder/President.
In the beginning, it seemed challenging and Italian Foundation (FRL Nepal) has already implemented the project since last five years but struggling to get very committed local leaders. FRL conducted training on same last year too. AWON agreed to work because it is for Jumla and women.
In this scenario, first discussion (REFLECT) conducted in December 2013. This picture is taken during that training. Due to extreme cold, the discussion held in outside of the room for getting  warm from sun. This training was first training for all. Few are educated, grade ranges from 4 to 10 where as few are uneducated.
Here, this report shared about the brief story of  Sarkini who is never been school in her life. She is from Tallo Lorpa, Dillichaur village, Jumla.

In August 2014, Mrs Sarkini changed so many things in her life and society.

AWoN has few videos of Sarkini but couldn't upload.

If anyone like to know AWON's approach of organizing and mobilizing poor, marginalized women, please feel free to contact at www.actionworksnepal.org
